COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) – A Columbus resident brought a complaint to Columbus City Council accusing Police Chief Stoney Mathis of retaliation and inadequate accountability within the Columbus Police Department.
The complaint comes after two recent incidents and about three months before Mathis plans to step down from his position with Columbus Police.
Resident cites open records requests
Columbus resident Matthew Bolin brought the complaint to the council. Bolin said he used open records requests to find evidence of what he called retaliation against those who raise internal concerns within the Columbus Police Department, as well as inadequate accountability.
