HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) — A vote to approve about $6 million more in additional funding to complete Horry County Schools’ St. James Elementary School replacement project will go before the school board next month.
During Monday’s Horry County School Board meeting, members discussed the deficit of about $5.7 million needed to complete the project. A district spokesperson told News13 that earlier Monday, the Facilities Committee approved the additional funding, which will go before the school board at its next meeting in October.

Horry County Schools said in January 2026 that major construction would begin in January 2027, setting a completion date for the school around August 2028.
