Texas’ biggest grocery chain has set plans for yet another multimillion dollar store off I-35 in Central Texas. H-E-B will begin work on a nearly $61 million store in Buda, a city south of Austin, next year.
The San Antonio-based grocer recently made plans official for its second Buda store in a new Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) filing on Tuesday, September 22. H-E-B’s TDLR reveals the company is aiming to begin construction on the store in early May 2027.
In July, H-E-B confirmed to MySA through email that it would begin construction on the Buda store in 2028, but now it seems residents could begin seeing the new store take shape sooner rather than later. H-E-B plans to transform a long-vacant former landfill into a new retail destination anchored by the store located at 15300 S. I-35, Buda, TX 78610, according to city documents.
Environmental work began over the summer and remains underway to clear the land before construction on the H-E-B can officially begin. The TDLR estimates that the total cost of construction for the store will be $61,249,595…
