EL PASO, TEXAS (KFOX14/CBS4) — Train horns are expected to go quiet again in the Five Points area of Central El Paso after the city successfully renewed its quiet zone application, according to city leaders on Tuesday.
In a statement to KFOX14/CBS4, the city said on Tuesday that Union Pacific has been notified of the quiet zone’s updated status, as horns are expected to fall silent within the next few days.
“The Quiet Zone designation has been reactivated. The Federal Railroad Administration of the U.S. Department of Transportation informed Union Pacific Railroad and the City of El Paso of the updated status. There is no set time for when the horns will fall silent, but it is expected to happen within a few days,” a spokesperson for the city said…
