MILWAUKEE — Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson’s proposed $2.26 billion 2027 budget would increase the city’s property tax levy, raise several fees and reopen Fire Station 6 on Brady Street with 15 firefighters.
Johnson laid out the spending plan Tuesday. The proposal would increase the city’s property tax levy by 2% over the current level, meaning Milwaukee homeowners would see a slight increase in their property tax bills next year.
The plan also would raise fees for sewer work, snow and ice removal and street lighting by about 3%. Johnson also proposed higher costs for parking meters, permits and tickets to help raise money for road repairs, which he said are greatly needed…
