FORT COLLINS, CO — A Northern Colorado jury has awarded $65 million in a wrongful death case tied to a 2022 crash on Interstate 25 that killed Megan Arneson, a Mead mother whose 10-year-old son was riding with her.
The verdict came after a five-day trial in Larimer County. Plaintiffs said the crash began when a semi hauling an excavator hit an overpass near Mead, sending concrete debris into traffic and setting off a chain reaction that left Arneson dead and her son with minor injuries.
According to the case summary, Arneson had taken the day off to surprise her son with a trip to Water World. They were on their way home when the crash happened about 6 p.m. on Aug. 8, 2022.
