Country artist Riley Green celebrated the release of his fourth studio album, That’s Just Me, with a special album release party in Nashville, Tennessee, on Tuesday, September 22. The event, held in the parking lot of Losers Bar & Grill and Riley Green’s Duck Blind, was open to the public with a 21-and-over age requirement and encouraged fans to don casual camouflage attire for the occasion.
The highlight of the evening was an unexpected appearance by fellow country star Dierks Bentley, now a judge on The Voice. Bentley joined Green on stage for a few songs, kicking off their collaboration with a rendition of Toby Keith’s 1993 hit “Should’ve Been a Cowboy.”
Before settling on that classic, Green playfully teased the crowd with snippets of Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Sweet Home Alabama” and Jimmy Buffett’s “Margaritaville.” After Bentley declined the latter, Green suggested Kelly Clarkson’s “Since You Been Gone,” but the pair ultimately agreed on Keith’s signature tune.
Bentley opened the performance with the first verse, with both artists alternating verses and harmonizing on the chorus. The festive atmosphere was amplified as the backup band added dance moves, much to the delight of the crowd-a moment that quickly gained attention on social media.
Originally released as Toby Keith’s debut single in 1993, “Should’ve Been a Cowboy” topped Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart and became the most-played country song of the 1990s, solidifying its place in country music history.
In addition to the Toby Keith cover, Green and Bentley also performed “Somewhere on a Beach,” further energizing the audience.
That’s Just Me, released on September 18, features 19 tracks and follows Green’s 2024 album Don’t Mind If I Do. The new album includes collaborations with notable artists such as Brooks & Dunn, Randy Owen of Alabama, Hannah McFarland, and Jake Worthington.
