LOS ANGELES – A Navy insider scheme tied to a Port Hueneme military unit defrauded the Navy of more than $9.1 million through rigged bids, kickbacks and false billing, federal prosecutors said, sending former serviceman Cory Taylor Wright to prison for three years Tuesday.
Wright, 49, of Columbus, Georgia, was also ordered to pay $9,128,515 in restitution after pleading guilty to wire fraud.
The fraud centered on the Navy’s Mobile Utilities Support Equipment division, or MUSE, located at a naval base in Port Hueneme in Ventura County.
