Woman makes tearful plea to attend son’s funeral; judge raises bond

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) — A woman charged in connection with the death of her son got her bond raised after making a plea to the court to attend her son’s funeral.

Amie Jo Farber was charged with neglect of a dependent resulting in death after her three-year-old drowned in a pool. An affidavit says Farber was asleep and intoxicated during the drowning. Police say it took 10 minutes for anyone to know the three-year-old had drowned.

Farber appeared in court on Wednesday and made an emotional plea to the judge to allow her to attend her son’s funeral. The judge then raised her bond from $25,000 to $100,000.

Court documents say Farber is considered a habitual offender. Back in 2023, Farber was arrested on multiple charges, including neglect of a dependent and battery of a public safety official, after she reportedly tried to punch someone holding her infant.

Officials have not said when she will be back in court…
