Louisville’s homegrown jug band tradition is getting its biggest stage back. The National Jug Band Jubilee returns to Waterfront Park on Saturday, Oct. 3, running from noon to 9 p.m. at the Brown-Forman Amphitheater, with Piedmont Blūz Acoustic Duo headlining a lineup of eight bands from around the country.
The free, family-friendly event marks the relaunch of the Jubilee’s full outdoor festival format, according to jugbandjubilee.com, which notes the Waterfront Park festival had paused following its 2022 edition. Alongside Piedmont Blūz, this year’s bill includes the George Street Jug Stompers, Chattanooga Sheiks, Cincinnati Dancing Pigs, Jake Leg Stompers, Possum Holler Reclamators, The Significant Otters Jug Band and the Juggernaut Jug Band.
As WDRB reported, the day will also feature craft vendors, on-site food trucks, children’s activities and beer and wine sales spread across the amphitheater grounds. It’s a lineup built to give visitors a reason to linger for the full nine hours, whether they came for the music or just wandered down to the riverfront.
A Sound Rooted in Louisville’s Own History
