SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (Good Things Utah) – This is a bitter sweet interview for us on GTU. One of the most talented culinary masterminds in Utah is ready to retire. Award winning Chef Zane Holmquist is leaving the Stein Eriksen Lodge Deer Valley at the end of the year, bringing to a close a long career of food delights.
“48 years in the kitchen, and that’s amazing,” Holmquist says. “It’s been amazing to be here in Utah and be part of the food scene here, and to see it go from – no one even knew we had food here in Utah – to now we have Michelin restaurants, we have James Beard award winning chefs, we have 5 diamond, 5 star hotels – it’s amazing! Where food has come in Utah it’s stunning.”
Over his incredible career, Chef Zane has collected quite the list of accolades including: Chef of the Year, Utah Restaurant Association, Governor’s Culinary Artisan Award, March of Dimes Signature Chef, and dozens of appearances on NBC’s Today show and right here on Good Things Utah…
