ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – Before most of Anchorage wakes up, the crew at Dino’s Donuts is already filling pastries and prepping display cases for a 5 a.m. opening.
Dino’s has been locally owned in Anchorage since 1985. The current owner, Dave Johnston, bought the shop from the previous owner in June 2025.
“I grew up cooking with mom and baking, and I like it. It’s easy and it’s fun. Like donuts, they’re fun. There’s nothing life or death about a donut,” Johnston said. “There may be an angry customer that is angry because they don’t have the donut they want that day, but there is nothing critical about donuts. It’s just fun.”…
