RALEIGH, N.C. (WGHP) — A man who was previously convicted of multiple child sex crimes in the Piedmont Triad has been convicted of immigration fraud, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Eastern District of North Carolina.
Roberto Almeida-Santos, 57, of Mexico, has been sentenced to seven months in prison after pleading guilty to immigration fraud on June 22.
On Aug. 7, 2023, a grand jury in Randolph County returned two indictments against Almeida, charging him with a statutory sex offense with a child 15 years of age or younger and two counts of indecent liberties with a child. Those offenses took place from Jan. 1, 2018, through Jan. 1, 2020.

On that same day, a separate grand jury in Guilford County returned two additional indictments against Almeida. The first of which charged him with committing a statutory sex offense with a child by an adult from Jan. 24, 2016, through Jan. 23, 2017. The second indictment charged him with having committed the same offense from Jan. 24, 2018, through Jan. 23, 2019.
On Aug. 14, 2024, in Guilford County, a North Carolina Superior Court jury convicted Almeida on two counts of statutory sex offense with a child by an adult. The victim was 8 years old…
