Rising diesel prices have a hand in increased delivery costs for McCord Butchery in Metairie. Owner Sam McCord said the effects are felt across the meat industry.
“A year or two ago it was $5.95 for our delivery charge. Now it’s $10.95 $11.95.” McCord said. “We even have some local farmers that will add on a fuel charge. That has never happened before. You know, someone might come across the lake with our local pork, and they’re adding $10 onto the delivery, because it costs them that much money to get the product over here.”
McCord said some of that added delivery cost does trickle down to the shopper…
