SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) is hosting an open-house public hearing in Springfield today, giving local drivers a chance to review plans and offer feedback on the $471 million “Forward 44” expansion project.
The hearing runs from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Wilson Logistics Arena at the Empire Fairgrounds. Attendees can drop in at any time during the event to view project exhibits, speak with project team members, and submit official comments.
The “Forward 44: Southwest I-44 Improvements Project” spans Newton, Jasper, Lawrence, Greene, and Webster counties. Backed by $328 million in General Revenue state funding approved by the General Assembly, the massive infrastructure initiative is scheduled to begin construction in fall 2026, with full completion targeted for November 2031…
