Rusty Eck Ford has taken action against two employees following an investigation into a racial slur that appeared on oil-change reminder stickers placed inside customers’ windshields at the Wichita dealership.
According to a report by 12 News, the dealership said the incident involved four customers and that each person was contacted directly after the company became aware of the issue. The investigation was launched after a longtime customer brought the matter to the dealership’s attention early last week.
After completing its review, Rusty Eck Ford released a statement Friday explaining how the incident occurred and outlining the steps taken in response. The company confirmed that the two employees involved were no longer employed by the dealership. While one of the terminated employees entered the “offensive language,” the other one found the word in the system and changed it but did not report the matter to management. The statement read:
“Following our initial statement regarding an offensive racial slur that appeared on oil-change reminder stickers issued by Rusty Eck Ford, we continued our investigation to fully understand what occurred, how it occurred, and whether any additional customers were affected…
