Work crews started a fresh stage of the Broad Street Improvements Project between 10th and 11th streets in downtown Augusta. The construction will affect how people get to shops that have dealt with this mess for months now.
This phase includes installing a bike path. Workers will pour concrete for sidewalks along the block. Someone from the city or contractor E.R. Snell will stop by each shop to figure out when to tear up and replace the concrete out front.
Access won’t disappear. Crews will pack down stone to create a temporary walking surface while they rip out old sidewalks. Some spots may close during active work hours, but the city insists shops will remain open. People walking or driving should watch out, read posted signs, and listen to workers in the zone…
