EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) -Mesker Park Zoo & Botanic Garden could be getting more than $1.3 million in capital improvements in Evansville’s proposed 2027 budget, as the zoo works to maintain accreditation and address aging facilities across its 50-acre campus.
Mayor Stephanie Terry presented her proposed $152 million city budget to council members, which included the zoo funding item.
Mesker Park Zoo Executive Director Erik Beck said the zoo is approaching its 100th anniversary in 2028 and has a long list of projects planned for the coming year, including work on the Discovery Center, the Amazonia building and paving throughout the property…
