GVSU takes disciplinary action, issues new campus rules following recent incidents

ALLENDALE, Mich. (WOOD) — Grand Valley State University administrators have taken disciplinary action against students and non-students over violent incidents so far this semester.

School leaders say they have suspended or expelled at least two students and banned at least two people from coming to campus.

“I think it’s important for people to know that when something like this were to happen on campus and we know who the perpetrators are, we are going to take steps to make sure that they’re not a member of our community,” Jenny Hall-Jones, GVSU Vice President for Student Affairs, said.

The latest incident reported happened over the weekend when a man brought a gun to a dorm and reportedly made a threat. School officials say the man involved in that weekend incident was not a student, but police have not yet made an arrest.
