AUSTIN (KXAN) — After much debate, the City of Austin will not move forward with a planned drawdown of Lake Austin.
Lake Austin drawdown could cost jobs, cancel holiday events
The decision was outlined in a joint memo published from Austin Water and Austin Watershed Protection to the Mayor and city council.
“The drawdown was initially scheduled for October 12 through November 30. Through stakeholder engagement, the City heard concerns about potential impacts for businesses and activities along Lake Austin, including the fall wedding season and major events such as the University of Texas at Austin football and Formula 1,” the memo said.
