Some dogs have an uncanny sense of intuition despite being in a scary situation. Animal Protection Officers in Texas received one call in mid-September about a canine that had gotten lost and was close to a busy street with a lot of traffic. Knowing that animals usually don’t react well to strangers, they approached the pooch with caution. But then the dog did something they didn’t expect.
El Paso Police Department assists in rescuing dog in “unsafe situation”
On a sunny day in the middle of September, Animal Protection Officer (APO) Cobo responded to a call about a lost dog named Archer that appears to be Belgian Malinois or German Shepard that had gotten himself into a “pretty unexpected situation,” according to a post by El Paso Animal Services (EPAS) on its official Facebook page.
The post doesn’t say what was specifically unsafe about the dog’s situation, but images of the scene show an APO truck, along with several patrol cars from the El Paso Police Department (EPPD) assisting with the rescue, next to a three-lane street with a lot of traffic. One of the lanes needed to be blocked off to give the officers the best shot of bringing in the canine safely.
EPPD officers attempted to catch Archer, with one image showing a catch pole leaning against the side of one of the patrol cars. But they were caught off-guard when the dog wasn’t afraid of them at all and jumped right into one of the police vehicles. Archer seemed to sense that the officers were there to help and hopped into the driver’s seat, as if he was ready for them to bring him home…
