Louisiana could get a Dolly Parton license plate

NEW ORLEANS — As the nation prepares to celebrate ‘9 to 5’ or Dolly Parton Day, a state lawmaker said he will propose a way for Louisianans to honor the late country legend on the road.

Rep. Mike Bayham (R-Chalmette) plans to introduce legislation creating a Dolly Parton-inspired license plate during the Louisiana Legislature’s next regular session. According to Bayham, the proceeds from the specialty plate will support Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library—a non-profit that delivers free books nationwide to children five and younger.

“Dolly Parton used her extraordinary success to make a difference in the lives of children,” Rep. Bayham said. “This plate gives Louisianans an opportunity to celebrate her legacy while making a meaningful investment in our next generation.”…
