SWAT team helps nab Eugene domestic violence suspect

EUGENE, Ore. – Eugene police arrested a domestic violence suspect with help from the SWAT team on West 6th Avenue near Blair Boulevard on Wednesday morning, according to the Eugene Police Department.

EPD officials said that officers went to a local hospital at 11 p.m. on Sept. 22 to meet with a woman who had been hurt in a domestic violence case. After talking with her, officers determined they had enough evidence to arrest the suspect. The suspect, Antonio Maurice Devereaux, 39, was contacted by phone but refused to meet with officers. Officers found his car parked in Springfield and watched it until Devereaux came back. When Devereaux returned to the car, officers followed him until the SWAT team arrived and stopped the car.
