KAIMUKI, Oahu (KHON2) — More than a month after the roof of Happy Days Restaurant in Kaimukī collapsed, the building remains closed and deemed unsafe — and nearby businesses said they are now dealing with a worsening smell coming from inside.
The roof collapsed Aug. 18 while the restaurant was open. No one was seriously hurt, but the structural damage has prevented people from freely entering the building.
Nearby business owners said food and other items were left inside after the collapse, and the smell of what they believe is rotting food has become increasingly noticeable…
