A fire involving stacked hay bales at Deere Valley Farm in Dickerson caused an estimated $50,000 in damage Thursday evening, according to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS). No injuries were reported.
The farm’s owner and workers called 911 after noticing smoke among tall stacks of large hay bales around 6 p.m. They moved the hay and helped contain the smoldering fire. About 50 firefighters responded to the property on Dickerson Road, with assistance from Frederick County crews.
