WARWICK, R.I. (WJAR) — The Rhode Island Senior Softball League has proven age is only a number for the sluggers who take to the field.
More than 100 men, ages 50 to 100, meet at Warwick’s City Park each week for a game of softball and fun.
“We have a Wednesday league at age 57 and over with about 100 players, we have a Friday league aged 60 and older with about 60 players, and there’s a Sunday league aged 50 and over with about 300 players,” said 73-year-old Ray Sheridan of Warwick. “I got to play ball with guys I played ball with at 12 years old, and it makes you feel like you’re 12 years old again. Most of these guys have played with one or another for 50-60 years.”…
