An 18-year-old has been charged with manslaughter six months after her boyfriend died while they were handling a gun in southwest Houston, police said.
The incident happened on March 11. Officers with the Houston Police Department responded at 9:15 a.m. to a shooting call at 6031 Fondren. Officers said they found 18-year-old Diego Cornejo with a gunshot wound, and he was taken to a hospital, where he later died.
An investigation into the shooting determined that Cornejo was shot while he and his girlfriend, Emily Perez, were handling a firearm. HPD said that after consulting with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, it was determined the case would be referred to a grand jury…
