VAN ALSTYNE, Texas (KXII) – Crews have broken ground on Lone Tree, a two-phase housing development bringing more than 360 homes to the west side of Van Alstyne.
Park included in phase one
The development includes a 10-acre park during phase one, according to Mike Shaw, spokesperson for the city of Van Alstyne.
The park, called Lone Tree Park, will be located near the neighborhood. The developer plans to turn it over to the city for public use.
New space for youth soccer
Local youth soccer teams currently share space in the outfield at Forrest Moore Park.
“We’re gonna have soccer field, like a full regulation one, and then you can play width-wise for the little kids. You have the smaller field. So that’s huge for our youth soccer leagues,” Shaw said.
Additional amenities planned
The 10 acres will also include lighted pickleball courts, a playground, a shaded dog park and walking trails leading to a public fishing pond…
