Man sentenced to 12 years for attempted rape on West Ashley street: Solicitor

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – A man has been sentenced to serve twelve years in the State Department of Corrections for attempting to rape a woman on a street in West Ashley, according to the Ninth Circuit Solicitor’s Office.

The Charleston County jury found John David Gass III guilty of assault with intent to commit criminal sexual conduct in the 1st degree and assault and battery in the 1st Degree following a two-day trial. Gass was found not guilty of kidnapping.
