CINCINNATI (WXIX) – New DNA technology has allowed the Cincinnati Police Department to identify a man found in the Ohio River more than two decades ago.
The case dates back to April 2003, when a 911 call reported a man jumping off a bridge into the river. Five days later, a body was recovered. At the time, investigators could not confirm through DNA that the body belonged to the man reported, despite a matching description.
“Officers in 2003 just exhausted everything that they had available to them to identify this man, and bring him back to his family, and the technology they had available they just were not able to identify him throughout all these years,” said Heather Saidler, a police specialist with CPD…
