Drivers in Erie can now fully access the new roundabout at the intersection of the Bayfront Parkway and Sassafras Street Extension, as PennDOT has reopened the route to traffic.
Sassafras Street Extension had been closed between the Bayfront Parkway and West Front Street while crews completed work as part of the ongoing Central Bayfront Parkway Improvement Project. The newly opened hybrid roundabout is now fully operational, allowing motorists to travel through the area once again.
While the roadway is open, PennDOT notes that minor landscaping and miscellaneous construction work will continue over the coming weeks. Drivers are urged to remain alert and watch for workers and changing traffic conditions…
