Illinois has confirmed 23 measles cases so far in 2026, with most connected to an outbreak in central Illinois, according to state health officials.
Sixteen of the cases are associated with an outbreak in Douglas and Moultrie counties that began in August. The Illinois Department of Public Health said the people infected were either unvaccinated or had an unknown vaccination history.
The remaining cases are not connected to that outbreak. Recent cases have been identified in Kane and Madison counties, while health officials have also been monitoring potential exposures in other parts of the state…
