Tool thieves targeting work vans have struck at least 14 times across Chicago’s Loop, West Loop and South Loop this month, and new video appears to show a crew carrying out another daytime break-in.
Chicago police say the same group is responsible for 14 burglaries in which two to four men targeted locked cargo and work vans parked on the street or in non-residential paid parking lots and garages, stealing construction and contractor tools.
Video obtained from the Fulton Market Association shows what appears to be a similar crew targeting a contractor’s vans in the West Loop. The men first tried to break into one van, but left when a worker interrupted them.
