LUBBOCK, Texas — Adrean Boyd, 28, was arrested and charged with Aggravated Kidnapping for Ransom and evading arrest, after taking a baby for an August incident where he shortly held a 4-month-old for ransom.
According to an affidavit obtained by EverythingLubbock.com, on August 4, 2026, the victim advised authorities that the suspect, known to her as Adrean Boyd, drove off with her 4-month-old baby after leaving the victim on the side of the road.
Court documents indicate that an officer contacted the victim and began an investigation. During this investigation, the officer overheard Boyd on the phone with the victim, during which Boyd stated that he would return the baby if she gave him $23. This interaction was also recorded on police body camera footage.

A short time later, according to the affidavit, police officials learned that Boyd had dropped the baby off at an apartment complex near the 1800 block of 3rd Street. The child was safely dropped off. A witness on scene took a photograph of Boyd’s vehicle before he fled the scene, and these photos were sent to authorities.
