DENVER (KDVR) — The Northglenn Police Department is warning car buyers to be wary of mileage in potential sales.
In a Facebook post on Friday, the department said it saw a number of cases in recent car sales where odometers were falsely rolled back. The department said it can vary depending on how people notice the issue, oftentimes stemming from immediate issues with the engine.
“When they go and take it to a mechanic, the mechanic lets them know that the mileage has been altered,” James Burlison with the Northglenn Police Department said. “Another common way is people taking it to be registered at the DMV, and they have a history of the mileage.”
