PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A Salem teacher has been fired after being arrested in connection to a deadly hit-and-run.
As first reported by the Statesman Journal, Tristen Glen Wilson was terminated from his role with Salem-Keizer Public Schools on Tuesday. A spokesperson for the district told KOIN 6 the 28-year-old man was originally placed on administrative leave on Aug. 4 — the same day authorities announced he was the suspect in a crash that turned fatal.

The Salem Police Department revealed the crash occurred in the 400 block of 17th Street Northeast around 9:30 p.m. on Aug. 3. Witnesses informed officers that two individuals were on the sidewalk when they were struck by a vehicle that “did not stop and continued driving away from the scene,” according to authorities.
