Carrot Top Released from Hospital Following Mental Health Crisis
One week after a serious mental health emergency, comedian Carrot Top, whose real name is Scott Thompson, has been discharged from the hospital and is now recovering at home with family. The 61-year-old’s condition is reportedly stable and improving, according to a source close to him. Thompson was hospitalized after a suicide attempt at his Las Vegas residence on September 18.
Through his representative, Jami Schlicher, Thompson’s family expressed deep gratitude for the overwhelming support from fans during this difficult time. Schlicher also shared that Thompson maintained his trademark humor throughout his hospital stay, even joking with medical staff. His team has been relaying messages from fans who shared that his comedy has helped them through tough moments, a gesture that has been especially meaningful to Thompson.
Currently, Thompson’s long-running residency at the Luxor’s Atrium Showroom-where he has performed since 2005 as the longest-running solo act on the Las Vegas Strip-is on indefinite hold. Ticketing platforms, including Ticketmaster, have temporarily removed upcoming shows, with no word yet on when he might return to the stage. His team emphasizes that rest and privacy are the priorities at this time.
This health crisis comes amid ongoing challenges for Thompson, who is also involved in a legal dispute with singer Brian Evans over an alleged explicit recording-a matter his lawyer describes as an extortion attempt. However, his camp insists that the current focus remains on his recovery, with fans continuing to send messages of support on social media.
