HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. — With less than two weeks left to register to vote in Hamilton County, Chattanooga’s Scenic City National Action Network is calling current voter registration numbers a “state of emergency” and urging residents to make sure they are eligible ahead of November elections.
Community leaders gathered in Alton Park on the steps of what was formerly Piney Woods Elementary School, across from the Emma Wheeler Section 8 housing complex.
Organizers say they chose the site intentionally because the building once served as a polling location for the neighborhood, which is seeing low registration numbers.
