EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) – An Evansville man was arrested and charged after police say he falsely reported a child missing, tying up officers for hours.
According to an Evansville Police Department report, officers were dispatched to an area of Hawthorne Avenue for a report of a missing child around 5:30 p.m. Friday.
EPD says the caller, 68-year-old Jeff Holsomback, reported that the child had left home earlier in the day. Officers gathered details on possible destinations and began searching.
During a follow-up investigation later that same day, officers say they discovered Holsomback had lied about the child running away and that he had actually purchased a bus ticket for them to another city…
