KALAMAZOO, Mich. — The Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) is welcoming two new K9s to its force.
K9 Taro is a one-year-old Dutch Shepherd who is being paired with Deputy Smelker, who is beginning his second K9 partnership with KCSO. Taro was imported from the Netherlands.

Icon is also a one-year-old Dutch Shepherd, but was imported from Poland. Icon is paired with Deputy Root, and the pair have spent countless hours training to serve the community as a certified K9 team.
Both teams completed more than 320 hours of in-house basic patrol dog training, according to KCSO.
