LOS ANGELES (CNS) – The Long Beach Unified School District has reached a tentative settlement with one of several young women who sued, alleging they were molested by a former teacher who was previously sentenced to 80 years to life in state prison on sex-related charges.
Mark Anthony Santo, then 54, was convicted in June 2023 in Long Beach Superior Court of two counts of lewd act on a child under 14 and one count each of forcible sexual penetration, forcible oral copulation, assault with intent to commit forcible oral copulation and assault with intent to commit forcible penetration — the latter two of which were vacated because they involved the same conduct as the more serious charges.
On Wednesday, attorneys for a plaintiff identified as Jane Doe 3 filed court papers with Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Wendy Chang notifying her of a “conditional” resolution in the case along with the expectation a request for dismissal will be filed by Dec. 7.
