MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) – The City of Montgomery will celebrate a new chapter in its history on Thursday, Oct. 1, with a ceremony officially raising its new city flag for the first time.
The Montgomery City Council’s Government Affairs and Administration Standing Committee will host the New City Flag Installation Ceremony at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 1, in front of Montgomery City Hall at 103 N. Perry St. The event is open to the public.
The ceremony marks the official effective date of Montgomery’s newly adopted flag, replacing the municipal banner that had represented the city since 1952. The design was approved during the council’s May 5, 2026, meeting.
