It was a dreary late September morning in Sonoma Valley. The peaks of the Mayacamas Mountains were barely visible, draped in a deck of low clouds as a light drizzle started to fall.
“It’s been a strange weather year,” said Morgan Twain-Peterson, owner of Bedrock Wine Co. “We’ve had a lot more cloudy days like this.”
Twain-Peterson and Jake Neustadt, Bedrock’s director of viticulture, were watching a crew finish picking Alicante Bouschet, a red-fleshed grape bred in France in the 1860s and one of the last varieties to come off the ranch each year.
