Marblehead awoke Sunday to find at least five boats loose from their moorings and more capsized in the harbor, one of the loose boats tipped on its side beneath a seawall at Glover Landing, the condominium complex on Skinners Path.
By about 10:50 a.m., more than an hour before the midday high tide, spray was starting to come over the Ocean Avenue causeway.
At Riverhead, a sailboat sat aground on the beach below the rocks, heeled over on its dark green hull as waves broke around it. Three small power boats were also loose there. Many more boats had capsized but stayed on their moorings…
