A 21-year-old man from Riverdale, Maryland, died early Sunday when his car struck a parked tractor-trailer on Interstate 78 in Union Township, Hunterdon County, New Jersey State Police said.
The crash was first reported by RLS Media, which said crews at the scene initially described two fatalities before the toll was confirmed as one.
State police said the driver was headed west on I-78 near milepost 15.4 around 3:30 a.m. when he lost control of his Audi. The car ran off the right shoulder and struck the rear corner of the trailer. He died at the scene.
