Time with the lower humidity is running short. Expect humidity to become more and more noticeable as the week progresses, eventually fueling showers and thunderstorms in time for a busy weekend across the Capital Area.
Tonight & Tomorrow: Expect another pleasant night across the Capital Area. Skies will remain mostly clear with just a few thin, passing high clouds from time to time. Morning lows will drop into the upper 60s. With ample sunshine, temperatures will soar into the lower 90s on Monday afternoon. Most inland areas will hold on to the lower humidity, whereas coastal spots could be a bit muggier thanks to the Gulf influence. Those immediate coastal areas could see a spotty shower, but much of the region will stay dry.
Up Next: While the more “comfortable” pattern will hold through Tuesday, changes will begin to show up around midweek. Expect a rise in humidity Wednesday as Gulf moisture moves inland, but the real steam takes over late in the week. This coincides with a gradual ramp-up in shower and storm chances. Especially in the Friday-Sunday timeframe, the overall atmospheric moisture level will be quite high for the time of year. Locally heavy rain could lead to street and poor-drainage flooding in spots. All told, most will collect 1-3” over the next week, with a few neighborhoods measuring more. Once the rainy pattern takes hold, highs will have a difficult time getting out of the 80s.
