The Lake Local School District Board of Education met Monday, Sept. 21. Superintendent Brett Yeagley gave his report and covered a lot of items quickly. He stated that Lake had gotten off to an “awesome” start to the 2026-27 school year in its fifth week. He thanked the entire staff for their professionalism and work and the students for getting off to a great start.
Lake had a full audit done by the Ohio School Safety Center to make sure the district is doing all that can be done in safety and safety training. A report will follow on this subject that board members will be able to review if they wish, and the administration will use that report to determine what steps, if any, it wants to take on this matter. In addition, Cyber Northeast Ohio, in conjunction with the Stark County Educational Service Center, did a review of cybersecurity at Lake.
On the state report cards issued recently, Lake is tied for the No. 1 ranking in Stark County for the 11th year in a row and is in the top 10% in the state. Yeagley plans to have a full discussion of this report at the next board meeting. Lake is ranked 54th best in Ohio and No. 1 in Stark County by U.S. News & World Report.
