MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — A Mobile man who was beaten and robbed in midtown last month faces his alleged attacker in court. Tom Cleaveland says his life is on an upswing after a rough few days in August. He says he’s in good spirits after testimony he says helped put his alleged attacker behind bars.
In late August Cleaveland said he befriended a man downtown and then the man asked Tom to buy him a meal and they went to the Midtown Waffle House. Cleveland said the man then stole his phone, ran away then attacked him when Cleaveland demanded his stuff back.
Police later arrested 66-year-old Nelson Hurst. He was charged with robbery. Cleaveland says he testified at a preliminary hearing last week, and that helped get Hurst probation revoked…
