New Rutherford County Mayor Randy Allen could be called to the carpet if he plans to demote Public Safety Director Chris Clark.
Those opposed to the idea include La Vergne Mayor Jason Cole, who had previously promoted Clark before January 2019 to serve as fire chief for the city on the northwest side of the county. Clark by April 2020 accepted his public safety director job from former Rutherford Mayor Bill Ketron.
The Clark news comes as Allen faces continued scrutiny since taking office Sept. 1. The new mayor has drawn criticism for firing former Mayor Joe Carr’s son from an engineering inspection job and demoting county spokeswoman Lisa Kaye, cutting her pay by $25,000…
