SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — While the official Oktoberfest in Munich takes place from Sept. 19 to Oct. 4 this year, San Diegans have a chance to celebrate the German holiday well after that.
From the shoreline to the neighborhoods of El Cajon and La Mesa, there are plenty of celebrations filled with German lagers, dirndls and schnitzels throughout San Diego.
Oktoberfest in El Cajon, Sept. 25 – Oct. 4
Hosted by the German American Societies of San Diego Inc., the El Cajon Oktoberfest brings traditional German traditions and celebrations to San Diego.
Attendees can enjoy snacks like potato pancakes, bratwurst and potato salad while sipping on German beers and liquors. There is also live entertainment from the German band, the Guggenbach-Buam. The event takes place over two weekends, Sept. 25-27 and Oct. 2-4.
